The UCLA Anti-Trafficking and Human Rights Coalition (ATHRC) is a student-led group at UCLA, founded in 2009. Since its inception, ATHRC expanded from research to practice. In 2010, ATHRC began piloting workshops at the CAST shelter to improve the health literacy of trafficking survivors. Graduate students from various disciplines at UCLA including public health, social work, law, and medicine design, implement and evaluate health and wellness workshops with survivors of human trafficking. In the 2012-2013 year, ATHRC conducted 10 workshops on stress management, nutrition, reproductive health, and American lifestyle and currency.
We currently hold our workshops in one main location with the Coalition to Abolish Slavery and Trafficking (CAST): A multi-ethnic, multi-lingual human rights organization that provides intensive case management, comprehensive services, and advocacy to trafficking survivors.
